We know you have a lot of options when choosing a gym. You could go the traditional, big box route and be a number, an automatic monthly withdrawal of a meager amount, and someone they hope to never see.
You could choose your local, smaller gym where the staff is untrained and driven by "sales" instead of results.
You could choose Zumba, or yoga, or CrossFit.
If you choose CrossFit, you have over 100 choices of CrossFit gyms in Washington alone. Each is owned by different people, with different personalities. Each CrossFit gym will have a different feel, a different community.
YOU SHOULD TRY THEM ALL. Let us help you find them:

Location, amenities, class schedule, price- yes they are all important when choosing a CrossFit gym. So are the personalities of the coaching staff, their passion, their experience, their education, and their coaching style.
Why you'll love RCF.
We opened in July of 2004 with the guidance of the original CF Affiliate: CrossFit Seattle. We we're the second affiliate in Washington and the 8th in the world. Very few people had heard of CrossFit in those way-back days.
Today, we're a dedicated, well equipped facility. We've grown from our garage with one client to a facility that hosts CrossFit seminars, the NW Regional Qualifiers to the CrossFit Games, we've sent athletes to compete in the CF Games (Our team finished 27th and our Masters athlete finished 9th!) We have CF Seminar instructors on our staff as well as accomplished athletes, first responders, and bonafide superheros - moms.
As a group, we're parents and grandparents, college students and kids. We're teachers, employers, professionals, laborers, professional athletes, and weekend warriors. Some of us don't really even like to workout but we like the way we feel when we do. Some of us are strong and fit and flexible and some of us are getting there. We're all hard workers, not afraid to try new things, we all like to have fun, smile, and laugh. We've found some of our best friends here. We're warm, friendly, outgoing, suportive, and oftentimes competitive. Some of us even have tattoos (but not me).
Our CrossFit gym runs unlike any other. We don't have set class times. You're never late for your class if traffic is bad. We support and encourage you and celebrate your milestones. You're never left on your own to try and figure it out. You're coached by people who WANT to see you succeed, and want your success to surpass their own. We believe the coach shouldn't be the best player on the team, but the best leader on the field.
Our beginners start in their very own class, designed to build CrossFitters from the ground up. We start at the beginning, with the basics, and move forward at a pretty slow and deliberate pace. Coming out of our On Ramp, you'll be ready to join our group classes. You won't be a firebreather, yet, but you're on your way.
We're strict- on form, movement, standards, and safety. You will be coached here. Guided and led by individuals who have studied CrossFit, made it their major, and continue to learn as practitioners and coaches.
We're not for everyone. Some people won't like our style and we'll help those people find the right place for them.
If you're looking for a gym, stop by. We'll take the time to answer your questions, show you around, and you can talk to our clients. Join us for a workout if you'd like. (email first, please). We won't try to sell you anything. Then, if you think you've found the right place, get started. Here's how:
To Start
- Private personal training to get started consists of four one hour sessions which cover roughly the same movements as On Ramp but without the gentle, long slow approach that develops consistency and camaraderie. It's our least favorite option but sometime necessary when scheduling conflicts arise.
- Our OnRamp class meets 3 days a week for 4 weeks. It is designed for the individual who wants ultimately to train in one of our ongoing group CrossFit classes. In this class we will expose newcomers to our movement curriculum in a group format. Movement techniques will be drilled as well as a progressive introduction to the intensity levels that are inherent in our group classes. If you are unsure as to whether you are a good candidate for beginning in a class setting, please contact us. Check the main page to see when our next OnRamp group begins!
- If you are unsure of which choice is right for you, please call or email us and we'll be happy to answer question and help you decide the best way for you to get started.
- OnRamp classes are mandatory attendance, limited to 8 people, and passing of a skills test is required for graduation.
- People with CrossFit experience, backgrounds in Olympic lifting, or extensive athletic training often are able to "test out" of On Ramp. After all, it is our beginners program and isn't the right starting point for everyone. Ask us if you think this might apply to you.
