Can you name that movie? I suck at movie lines. I just messed up a classic Sandlot line thinking it was the Goonies. Rich would never make such rookie mistakes.
So, a game. Saturday 30 of us (and maybe the 5 who are on the fence) begin The Whole Life Challenge. Unlike it's name implies, it's 55 days of a game really.
Think of it this way- it's 8 weeks of "what can you do to yourself". You are your own experiment. You ARE the lab. CrossFit has this theory called the black box:
We dutifully record what we put into the box (stimulus) and we measure what comes out (response or results). We care very little about what is actually happening INSIDE that box, but if we like what comes out then we keep putting the same thing in.
What happens if you don't like what comes out? Your body fat is too high, your muscles are too weak, your running sucks. CHANGE what you put in.
You have details records, right? RIGHT!!?? So change the input and see if you like the outcome of those changes.
The Whole Life Challenge is about changing the food we put in as well as changing the things we're doing to our bodies - specifically working out, mobilizing, and supplementing.
It's 8 weeks of seeing what you can do to yourself. And yes, you can hang for 8 weeks.
I promise only good things will come of this. You won't grow an extra butt cheek or anything. At the end, you may decide that what's coming out of the box isn't worth the effort of what you put in and go back to your old ways. You may stick with it for the rest of your life, as the name implies.
For 8 weeks, be your own best experiment and really DO this. It will be uncomfortable, it will be hard, it will be worth it.
