The yokes got a final coat of paint yesterday for their Saturday RCF's Strongest Man and Woman 7 appearance.
The last of the atlas stones were delivered yesterday and we know that they'll be part of this years contest. I'm about to head over to http://www.mtrainiersstrongest.com and post the third workout.
As we count down to Saturday, it a time of reflection for me and time to write my annual "this day is our most important day" post. Here's last years:
Hey RCF,
Many people will read this today, but this is directed toward my RCF community. This it is, you guys. This is the event we plan for all year.
We expect a lot from you guys everyday. Effort, work, sweat. We expect you to give it your all, step out of your comfort zone. And you do.
Then one day a year, we expect more. We come together as the Rainier CrossFit community and we give *even more*. We don't participate in every CF fundraiser out there because we focus on one. One that affects us in the gym, everyday.
Casey may be quirky. He's 11, loves to deadlift, follows Dan around like a puppy, and will steal your shoes. He's also the only one that can quickly find your log book. Someday, our hope is that Casey lives a normal life, talks, listens, loves, finds his passion. We want a cure for Fragile X Syndrome, for Casey and all the other kids and adults like him that have this single gene mutation.
Everyday, Casey is surrounded by those whose lives have been touched by an 11 year old boy who knows nothing of the unpleasantries of this world. All he knows is that this group, this community, these people who surround him love him. He knows you guys.
This is the day we gather together to fund a cure for Fragile X. This is the day of all days that we ask the most from you. (Sure, we suck a weekend of your life away when we ask you to volunteer for Regionals- and yes, we're hosting again so expect that request sooner rather than later) This day, we ask not only for your time, but your donations, your extra cash, your love, and your hope for the future.
This is the biggest event of the year for our RCF community. We'll invite the outside world in to be part of it, but at it's most fundamental level, this is about Casey and his family. This is about the RCF family. THIS is the day to be part of our community.
We are grateful for you guys everyday. Casey loves you guys everyday. On this one day, we share our biggest dreams with those we care about the most. Everyday is a blessing.
But THIS DAY is special.
