I'm a monkey gripper on the RCF bars. When I wrap the thumb, it feels like I'm holding on by my fingertips. On the bars by the front door, I can cheat and wrap my thumb around the uprights.

My brother-in-law recently put up a bar at his house that is a 1" pipe set in wood supports, and it spins...serious suckage, even with a mixed grip, because any kind of kip just spins you out from underneath the bar.

I would say just as you do a bar. When I went to the gymnasics cert Tucker also emphasized that the thumb must go around the bar , it dangerous not to have it that way

Matt J

I do not wrap the thumb - going to try it now tho as it has been pointed out.

I tend to cup the bar (never mix the grip) right where we all tear our callouses. Lately I've been almost palming the bar - it seems to help me control my forward swing at the bottom of the kip and I rebound faster up toward the bar.

Tape/No tape/Weird grippy spray/No weird grippy spray - that stuff hasn't made a difference to me.
