not feeling it
Seems I’m not the only one not feeling the CrossFit Opens this year.
Registration is way down, there’s very little excitement surrounding it. Maybe it’s like birthdays – once you’ve had enough of them- when they come around again it’s just hard to get too excited.
Couple that with a lot of other things going on – we’re bringing back CrossFit Kids, we’re counting the days to a new facility (August/September), we’re working on buying the farm. You guys have new babies and new jobs and new drivers and lots of life pulling you in all different directions.
But then I remember the cheers, the PR’s, the bar muscle-ups and the snatches and I want to get really excited for the Opens because it’s always a lot of fun and crazy amazing things tend to happen. But then I remember how late I went to bed last night and how that alarms goes of early every morning (rude!!) and what I might be really excited about is a nap.
I guess I need a cheerleader.
So we’re on the cusp of the Opens, and if they have you FIRED UP feel free to spread some of your enthusiasm around.
The Opens begin on February 22nd. We will still judge Open workouts as a group on Saturday mornings. The Saturday Suck will still happen on Saturdays as usual, the workout will be the Open workout and you’re are ALWAYS welcome to come knock it out at the regular time even if you’re not signed up for the Opens. (If you’re not signed up you won’t have a judge or a scorecard, just a puddle of sweat when you’re done) If you’re signed up for the Open and you can’t make Saturday morning, tell us ASAP and we’ll get you on the calendar with a judge at another time.
We’re still going to need a crowd on Saturdays since Lisa has plans to make it back to the Games this year. I don’t know if she’s made that goal public, but I just did so participating or not, plan on bringing *your* inner cheerleader to RCF on Saturday mornings.
